Global Agenda drops patch 1.2 to the test servers
Filed under: Sci-fi, Game mechanics, Patches, PvP, Global Agenda

We're only about a week out from the first patch to Global Agenda, but Hi-Rez Studios has been hard at work in their super-secret laboratory (only slightly less secret than that) producing new content for the game. Patch 1.2 has already gone to the test server for experimentation and stress testing, and it expands the Alliance vs. Alliance gameplay substantially. Instead of forcing you into direct conflict, it opens up the possibility for theft missions to draw resources and hamper production for enemies, as well as letting players take part in battles where their Agency controls no territory.
New defense facilities are also being added, allowing those under attack more options to keep themselves safe. There are also options to trade territory to other forces or abandon areas that an Agency can no longer defend confidently. And that's not counting the large list of updates to the game's systems, expanded battle brackets, and re-tuned maps to make the existing gameplay more enjoyable. Take a look at the full list of updates for more of the changes, as well as a sneak peek of what's coming in Global Agenda's subsequent patch -- it might be young, but the game is clearly firing on all cylinders.

Hi-Rez keeps on impressing me. They are one of the rare instances where devs deliver what was promised and then some. If they add more non-instanced PVE content I'm going to have to just cancel everything and devote all my time to that game. Until then I wait and watch; nodding my head in approval. Bravo.

What happened to Seraphina? Been a few days since we have seen a post and I thought she was covering Global Agenda. It seemed that way.

She is at GDC right now, and since she moved up the food chain here, she probably has more work to do and will sadly be writing less.

Bought the game during the weekend sale and I too am impressed with the speedy patches. Of course, they probably had most of the new content almost done already but didn't quite make the launch deadline.
So far the community leaves much to be desired, however. Need to find myself a fluffy agency. :)

Cynics? On MY internets?
But yeah, I feel the same way about the community and the lack of meaningful gameplay without an AvA agency. If APB can similarly deliver its promises similarly I think it will be the better game. Still, GA is a good indicator that an MMOFPS can be fun.

Depends on your time zone.
I play on Echelon, and am loving the Euro commuanity here. Generally quite awesome, great people.

Right now I'm just contently leveling through PvE, which is perfectly fun because hey - it's a third-person shooter. I'm really impressed with the foundation Hi-Rez has in place, and they're certainly cranking out new content like crazy.
