One of the things we've really enjoyed in Age of Conan is the details that they've put into things, up to and including missing limbs on NPCs. It shows how much time and care Funcom put into crafting the textures in Age of Conan. Obviously we're not the only one who thinks the game is lovely to look at, as Vectroid sent this to us with roughly the same general thought:

I really liked all the details put into the textures in this game, it's really awesome. Especially inside the dungeons; the details are breathtaking.

Do you want to show off how fantastic your game looks -- or just want to show off how awesome you and your friends are? Whatever your reason, pack those screenshots up and send them to us here at oneshots AT massively.com. More screenshots are always welcome!

One Shots: Shiverpeaks snow

Filed under: Fantasy, Screenshots, Guild Wars, One Shots

While the news is heating up from E3, we have a fantastic Guild Wars screenshot to cool your afternoon off with. This gorgeous screenshot was sent in to us by Hawk Nevermore, who gave us all the information on this breathtaking bit of frozen landscape. Hawk writes:

The Shiverpeaks were once the heart of the Deldrimor Dwarves' kingdom. But with the combination of civil war with the Stone Summit and the devastation of the Destroyers, the proud Deldrimor kingdom is broken. Few tread on these forsaken, frozen passes, save the most intrepid adventurers. Infested by Ice Imps and abandoned Siege Ice Elementals once employed by the Stone Summit, it is an unforgiving land where only the strong can survive.

Well, there goes our idea on a good place to set up a ski lodge. Have you found a lovely landscape? If so, what are you waiting for! Grab those gorgeous scapes and send them in to us here at oneshots AT massively.com along with a tantalizing tidbit about the area. You know you want to.

One Shots: Tesso harbor

Filed under: Fantasy, Screenshots, Age of Conan, One Shots

This really has to be one of the prettiest Age of Conan One Shots we've seen recently. This was sent in to us by one of our One Shots regulars, Matt D. who used to send us City of Heroes screenshots, but has recently been checking out Age of Conan. He let us know this area is the village of Tesso in the wild lands of Aquilonia. We think it's a marvelous balance of the beautiful water, the lovely village -- and all the while, the volcano is looming menacingly in the background.

Have you found an amazingly beautiful spot in your favorite game? If so, why not share it with the rest of us! It's really easy to do:
  1. Snap a screenshot of something cool in your favorite online space.
  2. Drop it in an email to us with a quick note on what we're seeing.
  3. Profit!
Easy, no?

E308: Animal Crossing Wii adds MMOG elements, but not an MMO

Filed under: Events, real-world, Opinion, Consoles, Casual, Virtual worlds

While nobody is entirely surprised that Nintendo decided to bring Animal Crossing to the Wii, the concepts behind this new title are curious from our viewpoint. Animal Crossing: City Folk appears to be an interesting combination of Wii gaming and MMOG/virtual world elements. Sadly this does not appear to be the MMO many were hoping for, but it is certainly a good first step towards that eventual end. In Animal Crossing: City Folk, there will be many elements familiar to MMO players: auction houses for player to player sales, in-game housing that others may visit, and the ability to send player mail not just in-game, but also to mobile phones -- even what appears to be some grindy trade-skills -- all in a perpetual-styled world. It does not have the massive elements, however, so it falls into multiplayer as opposed to massively muliplayer.

Sorry, Animal Crossing fans. Looks like we'll be waiting for a while to see if an Animal Crossing MMO (ever) hits. of course, as far as developing the potential to create such a game, this looks to be a really great first step. Well, after they ditch the friend codes.
