One Shots: Crazy train

Filed under: World of Warcraft, Fantasy, Screenshots, One Shots

As time winds down before the reset coming in Cataclysm, many World of Warcraft players are working their way through all the raid content, including Ulduar. For those who have never wandered into this particular dungeon, we have this great World of Warcraft screenshot from Deadend on the Exodar server. This is the bullet train that takes adventurers to face the insane tinkerer, Mimiron. Deadend writes in to give us his thoughts on this shiny transport: Best train ever.

From big to small, we want your MMO screenshots and stories! If you'd like to send something in, it's really easy. All you have to do is email your screenshot to oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name, the name of the game, and a quick description. We'll post it out here for everyone to enjoy and give you the credit.

One Shots: Joining the hunt

Filed under: Fantasy, Screenshots, Warhammer Online, One Shots

Those in the past - or in strange fantasy lands - used this time of year to finish harvesting and laying in stores for the winter to come. For those of us who game in fantasy worlds, it's a great time to look back and reflect on the things that we may have achieved earlier this year instead! One such example is this incredibly picturesque image that comes to us from Yavvy, who captured this during a live event in Warhammer Online earlier this year. (Admittedly, a land more about conquering than harvesting, but still.) Yavvy writes in: Catching a ride with the great eagles in Hunter's Vale, the dungeon for the Wild Hunt live event.

Have you captured a great image from an in-world event? If so, we'd love to see what you've been up to. Just email it in to us here at oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name, the name of the game, and a quick description. We'll post it out here and give you the nod.

One Shots: Happy scavenging!

Filed under: Sci-fi, Screenshots, Fallen Earth, One Shots

Wake up, grab a quick bite of something that isn't too tainted, clean up a bit, toss on your gear and ride. It's another day in the post-apocalyptic world of Fallen Earth, where players have to work hard to survive. You can scavenge and find items to create things you need or want, trade others for things you've made, fight for whatever cause your character feels is right, or so much more. Today's great Fallen Earth screenshot comes to us from Shrike Song of The Older Gamers clan (or TOG as they're known) who writes in: My junkyard scavenger Shrike Song looking for the scrap lottery in every junk pile and scrapped car she can find. With the ruins of freeway overpasses in the background and a rusted T bird as a resting and scouting perch, no wonder that scavengers like her love their trusty horses so much. Hopefully that car netted you a bunch of fasteners!

Are you playing a niche game that you love and want to show off to the world? If so, why not take a moment and send us your image and thoughts! We'll be glad to post them. Email it to oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name, the name of the game, and a quick description. We'll post it out here and give you the credit for sending it in.

One Shots: Bark at the moon

Filed under: Fantasy, Screenshots, Guild Wars, One Shots

With Halloween now giving way to Thanksgiving next week in the United States, we figured it was a great time to show this one last Halloween image we recieved from Guild Wars. Thorband caught this image of his character howling at the lunatic moon during the recent Mad King celebration. The other thing we really dig about this image is the lovely fall colors, like those of a roasting turkey -- and of course, tasty pumpkin pie. Mmm, pie.

We love holidays in MMOs almost as much as we love pie -- maybe even more, depending on the game! So if you have a chance to grab some holiday celebration screenshots while you're out and about, please send some our way! We love to see what's up in the different worlds out there. All you have to do is email them to us at oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name, the name of the game, and a quick description. We'll post them out here and give you the love.

One Shots: Another day in DDO

Filed under: Fantasy, Screenshots, Dungeons and Dragons Online, One Shots

Know how we know you guys like Dungeons and Dragons Online? You picked it as the current adventure for our very own Shawn Schuster! He's currently working his way through the lands of Dungeons and Dragons Online, to both enlighten and amuse. Of course, if you just want regular everyday amusement, One Shots is glad to step in when players send us funny images -- like this one from Inspecta! He writes in to give us a visual pun: [This is] a screen shot of my friends and I hangin' around the marketplace in DDO. You can almost hear the drum/cymbal on that punch line, can't you?

Have you figured out a way to create your very own visual pun in your favorite game? Think you've got a groaner you'd like to unleash on the world? Don't be shy! Send those funny screenshots in to us here at oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name, the name of the game, and a quick description. We'll post it out here and let everyone in on the joke.

One Shots: Waxing poetic

Filed under: Sci-fi, Screenshots, EVE Online, One Shots

One of the things that EVE Online has managed to do since its early days is inspire an incredibly loyal, devoted fanbase. They travel around the world to attend the Fan Fest in Iceland, they write fiction about the game, and of course - they send in crazy excellent EVE Online One Shots for us to enjoy! Today's great screen comes to us from Hetler R. who opted to add his note in a more poetic form. He writes in:

The grid is clean.
The dust will settle.
To infinity as they might seem,
Echoes in the distance rattle.
Beware of smite;
Beware of terror;
For wrecks in the sundance gleam.
Beware!
Because in space...
No one can hear you scream.

Do you have a game that inspires you to write poems, haiku, or even the occasional (very short) story? Would you like to share it with the world? If so, grab a great screenshot that supports what you've written and then send it our way at oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name, and the name of the game. We'll post it out here for everyone to enjoy and give you the credit!

One Shots: Wonder what he's reading

Filed under: Fantasy, Screenshots, Aion, One Shots

For some of us, there's nothing quite as good as getting some gaming time in, save perhaps cracking open a good book. Sometimes you can even get a good book in while getting some MMO time. When you add in being in the lovely lands of Aion, that's a pretty solid combination -- or at least a pretty one as today's One Shots shows! This great picture comes to us from Steffan A. who writes in: I started a new character on Triniel, and I was wandering through Munihele Forest when I just had to stop and take a screenshot. Aion is one of the best looking MMORPG's I have ever played, and I think I'll be staying for awhile.

For some, it's all about the beauty. For others, it's all about the play. Others still prefer a bit of both! We'd love to see screens of your favorite MMO, if you'd like to send 'em on in. Just email them to oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name, the name of the game, and a quick description. We'll do the rest. Easy, no?

One Shots: Something old, something new

Filed under: Sci-fi, Screenshots, Star Wars Galaxies, One Shots

With all the new games coming out recently, it's nice to see someone taking on some of the older titles with fresh eyes and seeing what's going on out there. Take, for example, this great Star Wars Galaxies image that our friend Petter M. sent in from his recent travels. He writes in: I'm currently doing some "research" into Star Wars: Galaxies to find out if it deserves its bad reputation. I'm enjoying it so far, exploring and questing my way across Tatooine. At first the planet seems pretty much barren, but there are a lot of things to see hidden away in the desert - all the player houses and cities, if nothing else. Here's a screenshot from a calm oasis which has been affected by the light side of the Force, where I ended up as a part of a Jedi-quest.

Have you been exploring parts of your favorite game that we haven't seen here? All games are welcome, all images too! Send us combat, group posed shots, landscapes, you name it, to oneshots AT massively DOT com. Some information like your name, guild, server, and a description of what's going on in the screenshot is awesome too. We'll post it up here and give you credit.

One Shots: Everyone needs a castle of their own

Filed under: Fantasy, Screenshots, Lord of the Rings Online, One Shots

While we knew Lord of the Rings Online had player housing, we never quite expected it to be so small. We're kidding, of course! This great image is actually of a cute little sandcastle easter egg that was discovered by the adventurous Warden, Elizibeth Hathaway. Here's the note we got in to go with this image for those who may want to try to find this Lord of the Rings Online location as well. My level 37 Warden was wandering around Annuminas looking for the Blue Lady when she happened upon this little island- and found a pristine little sand castle!

Have you found something adorably cute in your favorite MMO? We love easter eggs, personally. Whatever your reason, we want your screenshots! Just email them to us here at oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name, a brief description, and the game they're from. We'll take care of the rest!

One Shots: Full moons bring out the crazy

Filed under: Super-hero, Screenshots, One Shots, Champions Online

With the last of several Halloween events wrapping up, we figured we'd put out one of the last few screenshots for the recent in-game events folks have sent in to us. Today's One Shots comes to us from Grey, who captured this bit of silliness in Champions Online. Why silly when it looks relatively peaceful? Check out the note that came along with it: Hi guys. Thought this might interest you. Here is a screenie of my character, essentially a robot, musing under the red moon (not quite Blood Red) during the event in Champions Online. As the bard, Christopher Cross said, "If you get caught between the Bloodmoon and Millennium City, I know it's crazy, but it's true..."

If you've got a bad pun lurking in relation to one of your screenshots, get it out and into an email to us. Those things can hurt you if you leave 'em unpunned too long. Email the punbomb (and screenshot) to us here at oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name, the name of the game, and a quick description. We'll unleash the pun-ishment on the world and let them know it was all you.

One Shots: A look at Allods

Filed under: Fantasy, Screenshots, One Shots, Allods Online

With not just one, but two rounds of Allods Online beta keys flying off of our Massively Codes site, we figured it would be a matter of time before we started to see some images from this interesting F2P game currently in beta. Today's image comes to us from Pingles, who said they've cleared the Allods Online players to send in their images to us. He writes in: So far the Allods beta is going great and we have their permission to submit screenshots! My player Pingles has just reached his capital town and I'm very impressed by both the design and the quality of the artwork. Thanks for sharing with us! Hopefully we'll see more as people get in there and check it out.

If you've actually read this far, it means you must like One Shots, so why not send in some screenshots from your MMO gaming? We need lots more screenshot love, and you're the best ones to help us out. Just grab screenshots from your favorite MMO and send it to us here at oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name and a quick description. We'll showcase the screenshot and give you the credit for sending it along. You know you want to!

One Shots: My little pony

Filed under: World of Warcraft, Fantasy, Screenshots, One Shots

You ever have one of those days when you're out working hard for The Man, and you get smacked down? Well, normally in MMOs, one would think you'd avoid this, but apparently Arthas had a bad-side-of-the-bed morning and decided to take it out on Jayden Beresford as she writes in: For the people who don't play this game a fairly large part of World of Warcraft lore was the attack on the people's of Azeroth by the Scourge. Many brave lives were lost in this fight, the warriors of the magnificent Horde and the pesky Alliance defeated by the legions of undead under the command of Arthas, the Lich king. My poor Troll warrior met her fate this way, her body forgotten on the battlefields until claimed and resurrected by the Scourge and turned into one of their own, a death knight who's purpose is to fight against the races she once defended. With only her master's voice in her head my reborn Deathknight supervises ranks of undead archers seeking to bring an end to life. Pity her Master saw fit to play a joke on her and assign a pony from Darkmoon Faire as her trusted war steed.

One Shots is in need of more screenshots, so if you've got some time while out adventuring, why not gather some up for us and send them to us here at oneshots AT massively DOT com? Add your name, the game it's from, and a description -- guild and server welcome too -- and you're set!

One Shots: We could use a vacation here

Filed under: Fantasy, Screenshots, Age of Conan, One Shots

With the chilly, rainy winter settling in for much of the northern hemisphere, scenes like today's One Shots from Age of Conan are welcome sights. If you use those powers of imagination, you can almost imagine the balmy breezes coming in off the water as you disembark in a strange new land. Ray S. sent this great shot in of his first moments in town, and explains the scene: This is the view of Tesso village in Wild Lands of Zelata that greeted my Assassin Deltex when he was fresh off the boat from Old Tarantia in Age of Conan.

We love to look around the lands of Conan, but we need all of you players to send in your screenshots! All you have to do to show off the parts of the world you like best is to email your images to us here at oneshots AT massively DOT com. Be sure to add in your name, the name of the game, and a quick description. We'll put them out here on Massively for everyone to check out and give you the credit. Couldn't be easier!

One Shots: At the heart of things

Filed under: Sci-fi, Screenshots, EVE Online, One Shots

Every so often we hear back from interstellar traveler and occasional One Shots contributor, Redwense, who sends us great visual postcards and interesting stories from within the galaxies of EVE Online. Today's One Shots is a stunning image captured during a recent skirmish. Before we turn today's post over, remember if you'd like to get in on the fun, email your image to us here at oneshots AT massively DOT com. be sure to include your name, the name of the game, and a quick description. For now, we'll leave the explanation of this image to Redwense. Be sure to check out the rest of the story behind the break!

Red Federation and Blue Republic were on a "Purple" skirmish through low security space, hoping to catch some action against fresh targets. Normally, the corporations would continue their daily "Red versus Blue" campaign--taking the form of a primitive "fight club"--within the region of Verge Vendor, but members often craved for new targets elsewhere.

One Shots: The hat needs work

Filed under: Fantasy, Screenshots, Aion, One Shots

When it comes to Aion, many players love just how highly detailed and cool-looking their armor and weapons are. However, when it comes to the recent holiday hats from the Aion Halloween event, those glowy pumpkin heads just don't really cut it in comparison. Even considering that, they're still fun to see. This recent image comes to us from our long-time One Shots contributor, Johanis, who writes in: Here is Metros...now almost level 25 Templar who just got his Halloween Hat. Lookin' good!

One Shots is all about reader contributions. MMOs from big to small are welcome. Just email them to us here at oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name, the name of the game, and a quick description. We'll post them out here and give you the love for sending 'em in.
