Littered throughout EVE are destroyed space stations. While they're most often seen in missions and complexes, some static stations sit around stargates or planets in important locations. They remind us of a great battle or war that happened in that star system's past.

There has been some developer discussion on the issue of allowing player-run outposts to be destroyed rather than simply taken over. They would then float in space as ruined hulks much like these ones and players may be able to raid them for resources or fix them up and inhabit them.
