Rogue drones were the result of experiments gone wrong with artificial intelligence. The autonomous drones now infest ships and build hives all over EVE. This screenshot is from a mission in which the pilot is asked to infiltrate the rogue drone hive and eradicate it.

Rather than having bounties or dropping loot, rogue drones drop alloys that can be refined into minerals.
