Hacking is a skill used to break into hidden information banks and extract valuable data such as data interface blueprints, skillbooks and decryptors used for invention. This picture shows a blood raider information bank protected by a ring of powerful sentry guns.

The complex was found using scanner probes, a game mechanic that is simply referred to as "Exploration". Many different types of complex can be found this way, from rogue drone hives or secret asteroid belts to information banks and even archeological dig sites. Naturally, higher rewards are available via this system in low security space than highsec and the greatest rewards are to be found in 0.0.
