Spurred onwards by the growing possibilities for exploitation of the universe's resources, now within their grasp through stargates, ruthless corporations rose to power and established control over society.

These decadent and corrupt leaders laid claim to world after world, but humanity's reach into the cosmos was hindered by the inherent limitations of stargate technology. Ultimately, the new territories previously thought boundless became too confining for humanity's greed. When we could expand no further, the corporations turned upon one another to seize yet more. Conflicts began anew, spanning centuries, and humanity was once again suffocating itself.
