Collections

A fantastic feature that unfortunately doesn't show up in a lot of games, Collections are widgets and doo-dads that you can find scattered around the game world. The collection system pictured here is one of the big selling points of the modern Star Wars Galaxies experience. Chapter 7: A Collection of Heroes added this enormous game feature that allows players to get credit for everything from killing mobs to visiting out-of-the-way locales. It rewards the Explorer Bartle type and makes casual play a much more viable opportunity in the game. Another title that uses this system is EverQuest 2, where the community lovingly refers to these collectibles as 'shinies'. Collectibles can be picked up off the ground as tiny yellow sparkley motes, and once collections are completed special NPCs grant you unique pieces of equipment. It's a fan favorite, and highly supported by the SOE developers.
